Our Church in 2025

As we move from a church-plant to a growing local parish, we’re making some changes

  • Church AGM - March 30th, 2025

On 30th of March our service will be a Church Update (AGM). This is with the purpose of talking about where we’re going this year, sharing good stories from where we’ve been, presenting finances, and nominating members of leadership. We would also love to hear about your experience of this community.

In the lead-up to this day we would like to take the chance to update our records of regular participants in Brooklyn Anglicans so we have your key information. Please visit https://www.brooklynanglicans.nz/newhere and fill out the form (even if you have previously). Once for every member of your family please.

  • Leadership Changes

In the early stages of Brooklyn Anglicans it was appropriate for Scottie to appoint a leadership of close confidants who were committed to the process of re-planting the church. However as we’ve grown, we now see the need for greater transparency and process around Brooklyn’s leadership.

At our AGM, we will elect additional members to our leadership for a two year term who will join the existing leaders.  If you would like to nominate someone or put your name forward, please contact us at brooklyn.anglicans@gmail.com. A more detailed breakdown of what is needed for and from leaders in our community can be provided on request.

  • Discipleship Groups

A key focus of this year will be forming discipleship groups. These will be small groups of people who meet weekly to learn to follow Jesus together. These will begin in the first week of term two.

In term three these groups will move to a fortnightly rhythm of meeting together (week one) and hospitality/mission/service to the local community (week two).

We will help on the journey of looking at ways your group could serve the community together. Examples of what this could look like include hosting people for dinner, participating in a neighbourhood project like beautification or nature care, or running interest groups like board games or sports. This is all with the aim of expressing our faith by making our neighbourhood a more beautiful place to live.
